Virtualisation product sets Windows IT managers free

InstallFree Bridge, launched today, is claimed to enable IT departments to deploy stateless software applications across a variety of Windows platforms, without the need to install software and without touching a host PC’s operating system or registry files.

Developed by dynamic application and desktop virtualisation solutions provider InstallFree, it looks like a powerful addition to the IT toolbox, while providing end-users the freedom to access applications from any computer anywhere. Says Yori Gabay, co-founder and CEO of InstallFree: “In complex computing environments, application and desktop maintenance represents a significant portion of the IT budget. We estimate a cost savings of between 35% and 45%, when switching from an unmanaged desktop or laptop to InstallFree.” He explains that the system uses the company’s virtualisation technology, which encapsulates desktop elements, such as applications, add-ons and patches. During runtime, the InstallFree Bridge dynamically connects all desktop elements so they perform as if they were installed – eliminating the need to install applications to the operating system and overcoming application conflicts, regression testing etc. “We bring to market a solution that not only enables corporate IT departments to improve their operational efficiency, but also improve end-user productivity and mobility, while maintaining a high level of security and privacy,” comments Gabay.
