Whale optimises workflow on OBS visual manufacturing
Northern Ireland pump systems manufacturer Whale is reporting new levels of efficiency since implementing Visual Factory.net factory software and touchscreen displays from Open Business Solutions.
Whale project manager Michael Brennan says its new paperless technology effectively extends its existing Infor XA ERP system by providing up-to-date, accurate onscreen instructions to operatives on the shop floor.
He explains that the web-based software covers maintenance and control of operating procedures and work instructions, all on workstation touchscreens.
And he says that it allows for rapid component changes while also simplifying set-ups for new product introductions – with real-time visual and systematic work instructions providing a new immediacy.
"We are saving time and labour, which in turn has enabled us to recoup the cost of our investment," states Brennan.
"The combination of Visual Factory and our Infor XA ERP software provides us with powerful tools for our type of manufacturing... It's an approach I'd recommend to other manufacturing and engineering companies," he adds.
