David Fox (pictured), chairman of Walsall-based electronics manufacturer, PP Control & Automation experienced Grand National success at the weekend as his horse ‘Saint Are’ galloped over the line in third place.

The 11-year-old horse finished hot-on-the-heels of winner ‘One For Arthur’ and second place ‘Cause Of Causes’.

Describing the day to Works Management, Fox said it was unbelievably exciting and something very difficult to put into words.

PP Control & Automation, which used to be called PP Electrical Systems, was named Factory of the Year at the Best Factory Awards (BFA) in 2008. Fox and Saint Are have also experienced Grand National success before, with the horse coming in second place in 2015, behind ‘Many Clouds’.

Asked how the Grand National success compares to the BFA rostrum, Fox told WM: “The Saint Are fairytale is still not over. We’ve now had a second and third. There is, only one thing left to achieve and that is a win.

“We didn’t win first time we entered BFA but we stuck at it until we did, and the same persistence and continuous improvement may prevail.”

2017 Grand National Result:

1st – One For Arthur
2nd – Cause of Causes
3rd – Saint Are
4th – Blaklion
5th – Gas Line Boy
