Iconic Leicester factory bought by laser cutting firm

Leicester’s Iconic Fox’s Glacier Mints factory in Braunstone Frith has been acquired by ADS Laser, a leading local metal laser cutting, folding, fabrication and metal finisher.

Providing bespoke to volume solutions, ADS already operates two sites: one in Wigston where it’s laser cutting, folding, fabrication and coating is housed and an assembly plant in Bruntingthorpe.

Started in 2005 by brothers Duncan and Stephen Keates, the company has grown consistently and last year it saw a £1m further investment in a new state of the art Laser Cutting machine. The new site will mean consolidation of their current sites and creates space for growth, giving them around 88,000 square feet, much larger than current premises.

Duncan Keates said: “The new site requires quite a bit of reconfiguration and further investment in new equipment, but we are hoping to relocate during summer 2021. We will continue to serve existing customers and gain new customers throughout the UK and the relocation will not affect our production. We have stayed open during the Pandemic by creating a Covid Safe working environment for staff. This is another step along the way towards meeting our growth ambitions and we are excited about welcoming customers here in the future and creating a new environment for our staff.”
