New MM research finds a growing appetite for sustainability

A new Manufacturing Management survey, conducted in association with energy management and sustainability consultancy, Inenco, has revealed that sustainability is increasingly shaping business decisions amongst UK manufacturers and helping position their moves to “build back better”.

Key findings from the report, which is available to read for free now, include:

  • 92% of manufacturers say sustainability is ‘important’ or ‘very important’ to their operations
  • 39% say that sustainability decisions are being made at a CEO/board level
  • 56% have a formal sustainability strategy in place

“2020 has become, despite everything else, a watershed year: now everyone – and every company – is talking about their impact on the environment,” says Duncan Edward, head of new business and partnerships at Inenco.

"As government and industry sets out its agenda to get the country back on its feet post-pandemic, ensuring sustainability sits at the heart of it is vital," adds Chris Beck, MM editor. "This research has shown that awareness is growing and manufacturing is poised to lead a green recovery for the entire country."
