Royal Doulton fired up on web-based supply chain IT

Fine china maker Royal Doulton is moving its global demand forecasting and supply chain planning with IT vendor Mercia Software’s MerciaLincs system.

It will allow a central supply team at Royal Doulton to collaborate with regional offices via the Internet and generate and manage a single global forecast. The firm expects this to lead to improved forecast accuracy, while the system also provides better supply chain visibility, improved customer service and increased stock availability while simultaneously driving down inventory levels. Dawn Murphy, project manager at Royal Doulton, says: “The depth of functionality of the MerciaLincs system proved the best fit with our objectives.” First stage of the implementation will take place in America, followed by the UK, Japan and Australia.
