Symmetry Medical cuts out process problems with Epicor ERP

Medical equipment manufacturer and distributor Symmetry Medical says it has selected Epicor Manufacturing ERP to improve process efficiency across its three businesses.

John Hynes, European COO of Symmetry Medical says that, with many of its products being highly customisable, agility and flexibility was just as essential as traceability throughout its manufacturing processes. He explains that the company had several disparate systems for manufacturing and financials, and concedes that it had no real visibility on real-time status of its production facilities. Hynes also says that lacking the facilities to appreciate where, what and which jobs the company was making money on, was making decision-making difficult. On-time deliveries were also affected since it was labour and time intensive to check real-time status of jobs and customer orders against schedules. “We wanted a solution that we could trust,” says Hynes. “We already have Epicor in a number of our 19 facilities worldwide, and this fact, coupled with the solutions’ proven integration capability, provided us with a known entity that can expand and integrate as our business grows. “Inter-site communications and system integration is becoming ever more critical to our capacity planning, supply chain management and ultimately our competitive performance. We wanted a solution that provided all of these things and we wanted it implemented in our Sheffield facility in a very short timescale.”
