Autodesk completes on Opticore visualisation

1 min read

Autodesk has now completed its acquisition of Swedish visualisation technology firm Opticore AB – adding another dimension to its digital prototyping for the automotive and consumer goods sectors.

Opticore’s systems are used to produce realistic and interactive 3D digital product visualisations and presentations. Autodesk says the acquisition is part of its strategy to drive mass adoption of 3D. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The company now says it will be able to deliver a more comprehensive and powerful design visualisation offering by harnessing the Autodesk Showcase and Opticore product lines. Autodesk Showcase simplifies the process of preparing data and scenes for design presentations and reviews. Opticore products offer high-end visualisation capabilities and real-time ray tracing, along with a variety of environments and materials. “Autodesk is committed to providing the industry’s most complete digital prototyping solution that allows our customers to experience superior business results by reducing the need for physical prototypes, shortening development cycles and increasing communications between their designers, managers and customers,” says Robert Kross, senior vice president of Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions.
