Autodesk extends visualisation by acquiring Opticore

Autodesk is acquiring Swedish Design Communication subsidiary Opticore for its interactive 3D visualisation and rendering software for digital prototyping.

“The acquisition of Opticore technology is part of Autodesk’s commitment to set the direction for digital prototyping and offer a complete solution across manufacturing industry,” says Robert Kross, senior vice president, Autodesk Manufacturing Solutions. He says that Autodesk plans to continue development of Opticore technology and support existing customers through a combination of Autodesk and Opticore expertise and technology. It will also be able to deliver even more advanced visualisation solutions by harnessing real-time ray tracing and a deep engineering knowledge base. “By adding Opticore products, Autodesk intends to offer the most complete design visualisation solution in the market, providing automotive and product designers the opportunity to select the most cutting edge visualisation product that best meets their needs,” says Kross. Opticore users include major automotive manufacturers such as Audi, Ford, Hyundai, KIA, FAW, Brilliance Auto, Tata Motor, Mahindra Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, Honda and Nissan Mitsubishi.
