Discover the lean manufacturing secrets of BAE Systems' Samlesbury – home of the Typhoon fighter jet-and Jaguar Land Rover, Halewood at the WM Manufacturing Conference (WMMC) 2015 on 17-18 November.

A four-strong WMMC factory tour programme will take delegates lineside to see the art of effective visual management, employee engagement and 5S.

The tours form part of an extensive best practice programme on deploying a successful continuous improvement programme at WMMC, which will be held at the Worsley Park hotel, Manchester.

Attendees will hear about the journey to lean success via a series of practitioner-based case studies on the opening day of the conference.

The speaker programme features Ross McCombe, site manager at the UK's first ever Shingo Award-winning site, Newsprinters, Eurocentral.

McCombe will reveal how adopting fixed values based on Steven Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People powered the site to the international manufacturing award.

The Manufacturing Institute's Bill Tiplady will discuss sustaining CI success beyond the first setback during his keynote session.

Tiplady, a former improvement lead at Rolls-Royce, will assess ways to overcome the 'it's just another management fad' objection to change among shopfloor stalwarts.

The duo will be joined by Jonathan Evans, head of F35 operations at BAE Systems, Samlesbury. Evans will discuss how extensive employee engagement has been instrumental in helping the site go from making one aircraft a month to one a week.

WMMC's second day will feature four interactive workshops which will allow delegates to put the lean theory into practice. Workshop leads include Festo, who will be investigating enablers of communication and change management and The Manufacturing Institute.
