Fly high with valuable lessons at WM Manufacturing Conference

The hard-won secrets of achieving operational excellence will be revealed at the WM Manufacturing Conference (WMMC) 2015 in Manchester on 17-18 November.

Bookings are now open for the conference, which will explain - through a series of factory tours, workshops and conference sessions - how you can become a world class manufacturer.

As well as discovering the lean manufacturing secrets of BAE Systems' Samlesbury – home of the Typhoon fighter jet – and Jaguar Land Rover, Halewood, you can find out why a principle-based approach built on values has enabled Newsprinters, Knowsley to win a coveted Shingo Prize - the highest accolade in manufacturing.

You can also take a tour of Scott Safety, Skelmersdale and see how employee-led grassroots teams have driven the business towards an ambitious 'Factory of the Future' vision, targeting zero accidents, waste, defects and late deliveries.

The four tours form part of an extensive best practice programme on deploying a successful continuous improvement programme at WMMC, which will be held at the Worsley Park hotel, Manchester.

Before the factory tours, attendees will hear about the journey to lean success via a series of practitioner-based case studies on the opening day of the conference. The speaker programme will feature The Manufacturing Institute's Bill Tiplady who will discuss sustaining CI success beyond the first setback during his keynote session. Tiplady, a former improvement lead at Rolls-Royce, will assess ways to overcome the 'it's just another management fad' objection to change among shopfloor stalwarts.

WMMC's second day will comprise four interactive workshops to allow delegates to put the lean theory into practice. Workshop leads include Festo, who will be investigating enablers of communication and change management and The Manufacturing Institute.

Hurry as demand for WMMC spaces is expected to be high and your factory tour choice will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. To book, click here.
