Beware of false economy on compressor maintenance says Atlas Copco

Taking the cheapest option on compressor maintenance will only end up costing you more in the long run according to an Atlas Copco white paper.

Manufacturers selecting independent service providers purely on price were operating under a false economy, said report author Sean Fairest. Fairest, business line manager- Compressor Technique Division at Atlas Copco concluded: "Compressed air users need to challenge the quick win [mentality] and consider carefully if their decision is creating, or destroying, value in the medium to long term for their company." Fairest's white paper questions whether alternative service providers create or destroy value for the compressed air user. The paper asks whether independent local providers are often ill-equipped to provide efficient service and maintenance in line with current recommendations from the manufacturer.
