BT Business answers hardware SOS

BT Business has launched what’s believed to be the first nationwide on-site computer hardware repair service for manufacturing SMEs.

Colin Mattey, director of ICT and solutions at BT, says BT Onsite Hardware Repair will provide SMEs with 24/7 emergency support within four hours. He says that businesses having problems with their PCs, laptops or servers can pick and mix from three levels of service – Standard, Priority or Anytime, the former costing from 37p a day. Often used by large corporates, this is the first time that Britain’s small business community will be able to call on ad-hoc hardware support. BT Lynx’s team of 200 engineers are to provide the service, and Mattey says that not only do they carry a range of spares, but extra parts can be automatically dispatched to site when the initial call for help is made. “To underestimate the importance of laptops or servers to any business – big or small – would be a mistake. We aim to cut unnecessary downtime for smaller firms at a fraction of the cost usually associated with emergency call-outs,” he says. The number to call is 0845 601 7582 – save it on your phone.”
