Yorkshire-based company, the Learning & Development Consortium (LDC), have delivered their first Health and Safety forum for local LDC member companies, together with DS Smith in Featherstone and Ardagh Group in Knottingley.

The forum is designed to create a community of companies that share best practice around effective leadership of Health and Safety in the workplace.

Members share success stories, resources and expertise and discuss the latest thinking and trends. The aim is to improve the Health and Safety performance of each organisation and to celebrate excellent track records.

LDC founder Graham Scott said: “Prior to lockdown, we visited DS Smith Packaging (visit pictured) and Ardagh Group’s glass manufacturing plant, so members could experience different elements of Health and Safety best practice. There was a real sense of community among the companies, discussing the challenges they face, and each taking away solutions to improve their own performance.”

Julie Watson, Plant Director at Ardagh Group Knottingley, commented:

“The leadership team at Ardagh Knottingley view the forum as a positive step forward. We can support other organisations while also improving our own Health and Safety record. “

Michael Buckley, MD at DS Smith Featherstone, added:

“We got off to a positive start with our first Health and Safety Forum. The attending organisations, who are mainly from the manufacturing industry, were really engaged and are continuing their journey towards achieving highest levels of Health and Safety.”

This is the first of a series of Health and Safety forums planned in 2020 which, due to Covid-19, will take place as an online workshop on 23 July, followed by face to face forums resuming in autumn 2020.
