Simulation and business improvement specialist Lanner says that six out of the top 10 Chinese science and technology universities are teaching and using its Witness software.

Lanner, which currently works with more than50 universities developing best practice in simulation, now has a customer list that includes Dongfeng-Nissan, General Motors, Motorola, AMD China and Flextronics China, as well as a number of leading institutions such as Shanghai Jiaotong University. Eric Gaury, director of operations at Lanner China, says that the organisation is developing its presence in China not only to target the domestic Chinese market but also to serve the needs of existing multinational customers and partners, such as IBM. "With forecasted 11.4% economic growth, there is clearly huge opportunity in China and Lanner's technology leadership has already begun, with this programme of support and collaboration with Chinese universities," says Gaury. "Witness is now the preferred choice for teaching simulation in a wide variety of sectors and the models developed by students here are very impressive," he adds.
