Free machine safety guide

Safety specialist Pilz has published a handy reference guide covering all aspects of machinery safety, from regulations and directives to guards and control technology.

The Safety Compendium is available in hard copy or free download and was written by machinery safety experts at Pilz, including engineers, lawyers and academics. Pilz says the publication is intended as an overview or technical guide for anyone keen to learn more about the application of functional safety standards to machinery and all its other associated aspects. The Safety Compendium addresses a number of topics, including laws, directives and standards (including the new Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC); safeguards and other protective equipment, including how to minimise the risk of tampering; safety control technology; safety-related communications; and safe motion control. The guide also includes a comparison of the old and new Machinery Directives, highlighting the differences between the two.
