IWD 2021: A Manufacturing Management Live Panel

1 min read

To mark International Women's Day, MM editor Chris Beck is joined by a panel of leading names from engineering to discuss the barriers facing women in the sector.

The panel talks about the fact that engineering and manufacturing should be seen as a caring profession in a similar vein to medicine and nursing, and explains why a diverse team is a strong team.

Joining Chris are:

Dr Sara Ridley, project director at Grantham-based powertrain manufacturer, Autocraft Solutions Group. Sara is an enthusiastic STEM Ambassador, supporting local schools on engineering clubs and encouraging girls into engineering.

Jenny Holloway, CEO of Fashion Enter, a not-for-profit organisation that provides training and facilities for the development of skills within the fashion and textiles industry. Jenny has recently taken on 77 workers from Laura Ashley and found them roles in Fashion Enter’s new factory in Wales.

And Professor Helen Rogers from the New Model Institute for Technology & Engineering – NMITE – in Hereford. NMITE is a brand-new higher education facility that specialises in providing engineering skills and training in a new and innovative way.
